"We share the same view on hockey and Robert will build on the foundation that Roger (Rönnberg) laid", says Frölunda's sports manager Fredrik Sjöström to the club's website.

Ohlsson has a past in the Gothenburg club between the seasons 2013–2014 and 2015–2016 when he was assistant coach to Roger Rönnberg. There, he was part of winning the SM gold in 2016.

I had so much fun in this club and thought that many things were among the most professional I've experienced as a coach. So when I got the question about succeeding Roger, it was an easy decision, says Ohlsson in a clip on the club's YouTube channel.

The last four seasons, Ohlsson has had the main responsibility in Skellefteå – a task that got a special ending a few months after the SM gold with the club.

Ohlsson got fired in November after a period with heavier results, dissatisfaction from the club's own supporters, and a statement in a notable interview with P4 Västerbotten :

I don't care about the supporters, said Ohlsson.

Besides Skellefteå, Ohlsson has been head coach in Djurgården, which he took to the SM final in 2019 – against just Frölunda.
