At 5:30 p.m. an alarm reported that the E12 had collapsed, a few kilometers from the Norwegian border near Stintbäcken. According to Sveriges Radio's traffic editorial team, six meters of the road had collapsed.
The Swedish Transport Administration says that the E12 is closed from Björkfors to Umasjö in both directions. Road users traveling to Norway are being directed onto road 1116 towards Joesjö. There is no forecast for when the road will open.
According to SVT Västerbotten, there is no information that anyone has been injured.
People had just crossed the road and we just feel "how lucky it didn't collapse when a car was on it," says Göran Hellström, rescue chief in Storuman, to SVT.
