The safety net was installed after an audience member threw tomatoes and red onions at Foreign Minister Maria Malmer Stenergard (M) during a debate in the chamber in October 2024.
The Riksdag administration has now announced that the net is being widened. It previously covered half of the stands, but from mid-April an additional net will be installed so that two-thirds of the stands are covered.
According to the Riksdag administration, the reason is to allow more members of the public to attend.
"The purpose of the net is to prevent similar incidents from happening again," writes press secretary Elias Aneheim Ulvenäs in an email.
The press gallery and the gallery intended for diplomats will remain without nets.
