The government, through Minister of Energy and Enterprise Ebba Busch (KD), has already criticized the EU Commission's proposal for a regulation and a directive on energy investments and faster permitting processes.

In a draft reasoned opinion to the Riksdag, the Business Committee writes that the proposals involve centralization and detailed regulation that cannot be justified.

The committee refuses to agree that part of the bottleneck fees collected by Svenska kraftnät should be used for investments in EU-wide energy infrastructure. Currently, this would amount to just over SEK 20 billion.
