Malaysian condom manufacturer Karex, whose brands include Durex, on Tuesday announced price increases of up to 30 percent as a consequence of the war in Iran. The company points to a shortage of petroleum-based chemicals.
The Swedish RFSU, the largest in the Nordic region, does not plan to follow suit.
"No price increases for RFSU condoms at this time," the organization writes in a press release, but adds:
"However, the global cost situation remains strained, with increased costs for energy, transportation and production, among other things, which could ultimately affect the entire industry."
