Almost half of the country's sports facilities need renovation, according to RF. In a new survey, one in four associations said they are forced to turn down new members due to lack of space.
"It is completely unacceptable if we consider that we have many major challenges with an inactive population and increasing ill health," said Anna Iwarsson, chairwoman of the Swedish Sports Federation, to TV4.
At the beginning of the year, RF received 240 million SEK for new construction and renovation projects.
"So far we have received applications equivalent to 360 million. That really shows how great the need is," Iwarsson said.
She wants RF to receive 600 million kronor annually for construction needs.
