The Swedish economy rose in October, according to the National Institute of Economic Research's (NIER) monthly economic barometer. The mood is now above its historical average for the first time since July 2022.

Both the household and manufacturing confidence indicators increased.

Also released this morning were fresh retail sales figures showing that sales volume increased by 0.1 percent in September compared to the previous month in calendar-adjusted and seasonally adjusted figures, according to Statistics Sweden (SCB). This was lower than the previous figure of 0.9 percent. Compared to September a year ago, sales volume increased by 4.3 percent.

"All months except May have shown positive development compared to the same month last year," says Johan Nyström, statistician at Statistics Sweden, in a press release.
