Together with Bolmen in Småland, Vombsjön supplies the people of Skåne with water. The water level there has not been this low since measurements began in 1969, Sydvatten said in a press release.
The call to save water is directed at residents and businesses in western Skåne.
Normally, water levels in lakes and streams are highest in February, but this year the opposite is true due to little precipitation during this winter season and the spring of 2025. Groundwater levels are also low.
