New satellite images taken over the city of al-Fashir (El Fasher) in the Darfur province of Sudan show signs of "mass graves", reports a research team at the prestigious American University Yale.

In a report published on Thursday, the researchers state that there is evidence of “corpse-moving activities.” The Humanitarian Research Lab (HRL) research group also writes that “at least two surface changes (indicate) mass graves at the mosque and the former children’s hospital” in the city that was taken by the paramilitary RSF (Rapid Support Forces).

Studies of the satellite images – which are the only available visual documentation of the situation in the city – also show meter-long grave-like holes in the ground, and that groups of corpses previously seen on satellite images have disappeared.

"Moving or removing corpses has also been observed on satellite images from Al-Saudi Hospital," the research team writes.
