A man has been remanded in custody at Lund District Court on suspicion of several serious crimes, including instigation of three murders, according to the Swedish Prosecution Authority.

The man is suspected of being abroad and is being detained in his absence. The prosecution writes that the crimes the man is suspected of are "of a network criminal nature."

"The person who has been arrested is suspected of having been involved in several serious violent crimes in Sweden during 2025 by, among other things, recruiting shooters," writes prosecutor Helene Gestrin in a press release.

The suspicions against the man relate to instigation of three murders, instigation of six cases of attempted murder, one case of conspiracy to commit murder and one case of aiding and abetting a serious weapons crime.

According to information provided to Sydsvenskan, the man is suspected of recruiting the 13-year-old who shot six people in Gävle on October 4.

The dates stated in the prosecutor's arrest request correspond to a shooting in Lund in January, a murder in Gävle on February 21, and a murder in Alby in Stockholm on February 24.
