When the circumstances surrounding Donald Trump Jr. and Bettina Anderson's wedding in May were revealed, it raised questions about contacts between the Kremlin and the Trump family.
The president has defended Russian oligarch Umar Kremlev's alleged payment of hundreds of thousands of dollars, including for a private island and a fireworks show. But now one of his party allies wants to investigate whether Trump's family has exploited political connections for personal gain.
"A toaster is a wedding gift. A party on a private island paid for by a Putin-linked oligarch is something else entirely," writes Senator John Curtis of Utah on X.
Last week, he said of the wedding gift that "it stinks. It's corruption."
