Sweden's former national team captain for the men's football team, Janne Andersson, is reported to be highly likely to take over Nigeria's national team, reports Aftonbladet with reference to Nigerian media.
According to a domestic football website, it is clear that the Swede will become the national team captain, while The Guardian writes that it appears that the association has chosen Andersson as the successor to Finidi George, who left the post last summer.
Andersson ended his tenure as Sweden's national team captain in November 2023, after taking office in the summer of 2016. Before that, the 61-year-old was a coach for, among others, IFK Norrköping (SM gold 2015) and Halmstad in the Allsvenskan.
