On November 10, successful coach Ruben Amorim left Sporting Lisbon for Manchester United.
Since then, things have not gone as well for the Portuguese club, where, among others, Swedish attacking star Viktor Gyökeres plays.
After stringing together win after win, the team suddenly started losing. Four straight losses between November 26 and December 10, to be exact. The team is undefeated in three straight matches in all competitions, but on Sunday, it was only 0-0 against mid-table team Gil Vicente in the league.
It has also gone worse for Viktor Gyökeres. The super Swede has "only" scored three goals in seven matches under the new coach João Pereira.
And already now, after just over six weeks, the management seems to have had enough. According to Portuguese Record, the club has decided to let the 40-year-old go, and a replacement has already been chosen.
The site writes that Gyökeres' new coach is expected to be Rui Borges, who will be bought out from league competitor Vitoria Guimarães.
