Terror-listed Hamas has, according to the Jerusalem Post, on its part confirmed in a statement that the talks in Egypt and Qatar are being held in a "serious and positive" spirit.
"It is possible to reach an agreement on a ceasefire and prisoner exchange as long as the occupation power (Israel) refrains from setting new conditions", according to Hamas.
The Palestinians' leader Mahmoud Abbas is expected to travel to Egypt in the coming days, according to the pro-Iranian Lebanese news agency al-Mayadeen.
