At the beginning of 2025, the violence escalated with several explosions in Stockholm County. However, according to a situation report from the Stockholm County Administrative Board for 2024, there are positive signs – both firearms violence and feelings of insecurity decreased last year.

In 2020, 26 percent responded that they felt fairly or very insecure, or did not go out at all in the evening in the area where they live. In 2024, this proportion was 21 percent.

The number of explosions remained at the same level as in 2023, while firearms violence has been halved since 2020. The number of deaths due to shootings has decreased by over 50 percent since 2022.

The regional situation report compiles living conditions, crime, drug abuse, and feelings of insecurity in Stockholm County.
