The strike, announced earlier in October, is scheduled to last 24 hours, starting at midnight on Thursday. Two very serious accidents have occurred in Spain in a short period of time. More than 60 people died in the train collision south of Madrid on Wednesday.
The trade union Semaf is organising the strike, which is being called, among other things, to demand better railway safety, procedures for extreme weather conditions and rules for the recruitment of new train drivers.
