Renault is to start manufacturing drones at its factory in Le Mans, France. The French automotive group is aiming for 600 drones per month.

Within a year, a production line will be in place as Renault attempts to help the French state adjust to recently increased geopolitical tensions.

Renault, in which the French state holds a 15 percent stake, is collaborating with French company Turgis Gaillard on the venture. The drones are intended to be adaptable to different applications depending on defense needs.

It is not yet known how many jobs the investment will create in Le Mans.
