The series, which is scheduled to begin production in October, is described as a "fresh and modern" version of Pippi.
Behind the production are, among others, Heyday Film, Studiocanal and Astrid Lindgren Aktiebolag. They are also developing a feature film about Pippi Longstocking based on Astrid Lindgren's original story.
"Astrid Lindgren's stories continue to grow their audience around the world, reaching new generations of children across markets, platforms and formats. Pippi Longstocking remains at the center of that journey," said Max Hallén, CEO of Astrid Lindgren Aktiebolag, in a statement to Variety.
