A year ago, Mjällby were surging towards a shock Swedish Championship title. But in the autumn of 2026, things are not looking as rosy at Strandvallen.
When Degerfors took the lead away from home in the second half of their match against Mjällby, through a goal by Arman Taranis, the Värmland side were level on points with Mjällby. But just a few minutes later, Jeppe Kjær equalised for Mjällby, making it 1-1.
“It’s tough, of course,” Mjällby’s Tom Pettersson told TV4.
With seven games left to play, Mjällby - who have won just one of their last 16 games - are four points behind Kalmar, who occupy the relegation play-off spot. Kalmar will face Malmö FF away on Monday.
