France put its foot on the gas when the European Handball Championship began on Thursday.
After five minutes of play against the Czech Republic, the French had already taken a 6–0 lead and there was never any doubt after that.
“Les Bleus” were convincing, with every player scoring. However, key player Aymeric Minne was forced to limp off the field injured.
In the same group, Norway and Ukraine played. Norway were the favorites and won by an even larger margin than France, a clear 39–22.
Sweden will play its first match against the Netherlands on Saturday in Malmö.
Denmark is the heavy favorite to win the European Championship title. Sweden, Norway and Denmark are co-hosting the tournament.
