Horner has been the team principal for Red Bull since the team came to Formula 1 in 2005.
But now that time is over.
Horner is leaving the job and is replaced by the Frenchman Laurent Mekies, who was previously the team principal of Red Bull's second team Racing Bulls.
"We want to thank Horner for his outstanding performance over the last 20 years. With his tireless commitment, his experience, expertise and innovative thinking, he has been crucial in establishing Red Bull as one of the most successful teams in Formula 1", writes Red Bull.
During his time as team principal for Red Bull, the team has, among other things, taken eight World Championship titles for drivers – most recently through Max Verstappen, who dominated between the years 2021 and 2024. This year, the superstar is instead in third place with only two wins and the Dutchman has also been rumored to be leaving the team for Mercedes.
