In total, it concerns 4,250 women – 46 percent – who, up to September, had waited longer than the healthcare guarantee for a procedure within gynecology, shows a report from Vårdföretagarna.
Nearly 750 women had waited for more than a year.
The figure is clearly higher than in September last year – and also the highest since 2013, when the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SKR) began measuring waiting times in a database.
"The number of individuals who had waited longer than 90 days for a procedure in September 2024 was unfortunately higher than any previous September", says Björn Arnek, industry economist at Vårdföretagarna in a press release.
Between regions, the difference is large. It is worst in Region Skåne and Region Värmland, where the proportion who had waited longer than the healthcare guarantee is over 60 percent.
The situation was brightest in the regions of Sörmland and Blekinge, where the proportion who had waited longer than the healthcare guarantee was under 20 percent.
