On Saturday, police in the West Region stopped a car they had been pursuing for some time and arrested a man. The stop led to a property where another man was arrested and a very large seizure of hand grenades was made.
"We have reason to believe that this is the single largest seizure of hand grenades that has been made in Sweden," Magnus Dahl with the police told Alingsås Tidning on Monday.
It involves more than 50 hand grenades, reports SVT Väst.
"I saw that some media wrote that the largest seizure previously was about 50 hand grenades. It's clearly more than that, I can say," prosecutor Mats Dahlberg told SVT.
The two suspects were taken into custody on Wednesday.
