An orange warning for high flows in streams and rivers, with a risk of flooding, applies from Boden northwards to Jokkmokk. A yellow warning applies south and north of there, affecting Luleå and Kalix respectively and eastwards.

SVT Nyheter reports, among other things, on hay bales floating down the Ljusån River in Boden after several days of rain.

I had to send a quick friend who could take the quad bike and go and fish out the bales that had fallen into the water, says farmer Johan Risberg.

The rescue service in Boden is under pressure and has requested extra resources, P4 Norrbotten reports.

"In my 26 years working in the rescue service in Boden, we have not seen this amount of water, not even during the snowmelt period," rescue chief Magnus Nilsson tells the channel.

The reason for the high flows and flooding is that it has rained continuously for several days, so the ground has become saturated.

But it should ease off tomorrow. That will help calm the situation. Then there may still be showers during the weekend, but not to the same extent, says SMHI meteorologist Henrik Reimer to TT.
