The attack on the village lasted for two days, according to the group Emergency Lawyers who monitor violence against people in the country. The village Brima Rasheed is located near the city En Nahud which is held by RSF.
Sudan's army and RSF have been fighting each other for two years of civil war. In May, the rebels were driven away from the area around the country's capital Khartum.
The war in Sudan broke out in April 2023 when the regular army and RSF's conflict started. Tens of thousands of people have been killed and over 14 million have been displaced from their homes. Sudan is often described as the largest humanitarian disaster in the world.
However, in recent months, 1.3 million people who were displaced have started to return to their homes in the places where the fighting has subsided, according to the UN refugee agency UNHCR. Once home, they are met with destroyed infrastructure, often completely barren, which makes it very difficult to rebuild their old lives, according to UNHCR.
What we need is for the international community to support us, says the organization's regional coordinator Mamadou Dian Balde.
