The Swedish women's cross-country ski team did not receive the Gold Medal after the World Ski Championships in Trondheim. Instead, the jury chose the beach volleyball duo David Åhman and Jonatan Hellvig. I had really hoped for the national ski team, says skiing icon Charlotte Kalla.

For their six out of six World Cup gold medals in Trondheim, the Swedish women's skiers were one of the main favorites to take home the Bragdguldet. But when the winners were presented, Charlotte Kalla was not allowed to cheer for her former teammates.

What I think is the feat is the relay distance and the distance that Sundling covers at the end, says Kalla.

Jury member and 2003 prize winner, Carolina Klüft, does not want to say who exactly was behind Åhman/Hellvig but says it was a very difficult year.

We can at least say that many of those who were talked about beforehand were among the top. We are talking about the cross-country team, individual performances in the cross-country team, Jenny Rissveds, Maja Stark, discus and others, says Klüft.

Another possible winner that was mentioned in advance was Mjällby, who took the Swedish Championship gold medal in the Swedish Football League after a points record.

"What we assume is that there should be a certain international level. Otherwise, we will get an incredibly large number if we also start including the best at the national level, even though, for example, football is still a big sport," says Klüft.
