The spitting incident culminated on Thursday when Valverde and Tchouameni got into a fight. Valverde sustained a laceration to his forehead after hitting a table. The Uruguayan will miss three games due to the injury.
Real Madrid wrote on its website that the players have apologized to each other, the club, the management staff and the fans and have accepted whatever punishment the club would give them.
"Real Madrid has decided to impose a financial penalty of 500,000 euros on each player," the Spanish club wrote.
