Real Madrid writes on its website that the 32-year-old German has suffered a muscle injury in his left leg.
According to several German media and journalist Fabrizio Romano, the injury is expected to keep him out of play for about three months.
The defense general is expected, if the rehabilitation proceeds as planned, to be back in December.
Rüdiger is a key player for Real Madrid and is a regular in the central defense. He joined "Los Blancos" from Chelsea in 2022 and has also represented clubs such as Roma and Stuttgart.
He has 81 international matches for Germany on his merit list.
