The 25-year-old has suffered a serious knee injury, the La Liga club announced.
"Following tests carried out by the Real Madrid medical team, he has been diagnosed with an anterior cruciate ligament injury and a tear of the lateral meniscus of his right leg," Real Madrid said in a statement.
Brazil plays in Group C along with Morocco, Haiti and Scotland.
