Now he made sure his Real Madrid got a great start in the quarterfinals against Dortmund by making it 1–0 after just ten minutes. In the 20th minute, Fran Garcia was up front and extended the lead to 2–0.
Then it looked hopeless for Dortmund. But the Germans got up and created real drama in the final minutes.
Dortmund's Maximilian Beier reduced to 2–1 in the second overtime minute.
In the fourth overtime minute, Kylian Mbappé made it 3–1 for Real Madrid.
Four minutes later, Dortmund's Serhou Guirassy responded by scoring a penalty that meant 3–2. But no closer than that did the Germans get.
