The Swedish ice hockey forward Lucas Raymond, 22, has signed a new giant contract with his NHL team Detroit Red Wings, reports nhl.com.

The contract spans eight years and is worth a total of 64.6 million dollars, equivalent to around 650 million kronor. This means an annual salary of more than 80 million kronor for Raymond, who scored 72 points in 82 regular season matches last year.

The highest-paid Swede in the NHL is Vancouver's Elias Pettersson, who earns around 120 million kronor per year. The highest annual salary in the entire league is held by Toronto's Auston Matthews at around 135 million kronor.
