The case concerns an incident in June last year when Paludan and another man, according to the court, handled a Koran incorrectly during Folkemødet, a political arrangement on Bornholm. The two men ripped out pages from the religious scripture while the incident was filmed and broadcast live on the party Stram Kurs' open Facebook page.
The court on Bornholm has come to the conclusion that they have made themselves guilty of an offense against the law on improper treatment of religious texts and shall be fined. The new law was voted through by the folketing in December 2023.
