After a tentative first period with 1–1 on the scoreboard, the goal scoring got underway with a bang in the second half of the match.
Buffalo managed to pull away to a comfortable 5–2 lead before Ottawa in the final period worked their way back and almost managed to equalize. In total, the two teams scored five goals during the first four minutes of the third period.
Of the match's total twelve goals, Swedes were involved in three. In terms of results, Rasmus Dahlin was most visible, with assists on both the 1–0 and 4–2 goals.
Fabian Zetterlund scored Ottawa's second goal in the match, but also caused a penalty that led to Buffalo's opening goal.
