Khalifa was arrested by Romanian police in July 2024 after smoking cannabis on stage at the Beach, Please! festival in the coastal town of Costinesti.
According to prosecutors, the 38-year-old rapper from Pittsburgh, whose real name is Cameron Jibril Thomaz, was in possession of more than 18 grams of cannabis, some of which was consumed on stage.
Romania has some of the strictest drug laws in Europe. Possession of cannabis for personal use can result in a prison sentence of between three months and two years.
It is not clear whether Romanian authorities will request the extradition of Khalifa, who is a US citizen.
