Rangers End Season with 4-0 Victory Over Lightning

It was already clear that Mika Zibanejad's Rangers would not reach the playoffs in NHL. It did not prevent the team from winning the match against Tampa Bay Lightning. It was the best way to end a season, says Zibanejad.

The match ended 4–0 to New York Rangers. Swedish Zibanejad scored two goals and has thus reached 20 goals for the season. He also made an assist. The regular season is now over and on Thursday it was clear which teams are qualified for the playoffs. New York Rangers are not one of them and the match was therefore the team's last for the season.

Every time you win a hockey match, it's fun, says Mika Zibanejad to nhl.com.

It's much more fun to leave the rink with a win than to play poorly and get overrun out there. I'm just happy we won. It was the best way to end a season.

Zibanejad has not yet given any notice about whether he will play for Sweden in the home World Championship in May.

We'll take that question next week, he previously said to Expressen.

Corrected: Los Angeles had the wrong playoff opponent in the fact box in an earlier version.

The quarterfinals: Toronto–Ottawa, Tampa–Florida, Washington–Montreal, Carolina–New Jersey, Winnipeg–St Louis, Dallas–Colorado, Vegas–Minnesota, Los Angeles–Edmonton.

The first matches are played on Sunday night.
