Rammstein singer Till Lindemann has been invited to the Opera Ball in Leipzig on Saturday – something that provokes strong protests, writes Der Spiegel. The organizers have invited Lindemann together with about 40 other VIP guests, which has led, among others, to Saxony's Vice Minister President and Minister of Social Affairs, Petra Köpping, to cancel her participation.
The coalition "Together against sexualized violence and abuse of power" criticizes in an open letter the organizers' invitation to the Rammstein singer and says it has more than 180 signatures from individuals and organizations in the city.
In 2023, several women accused Till Lindemann of sexual assaults and abuse of power. Lindemann denied the allegations and the Berlin public prosecutor's office dropped its investigation.
Approximately 2,000 people are expected to come to the Leipziger Operabal.
