The production will be performed at the Paris Opera House Palais Garnier, from January 26 to February 27 next year – with Russian-Austrian baritone singer Boris Pinkhasovich in the lead role.
The three-time Oscar-nominated Fiennes, known for his roles in, among other things, "Schindler's List" and most recently "The Conclave", played in 1999 in the film "Onegin" – whose script is based on the same book as the opera, "Eugene Onegin" by Alexander Pushkin. The film was directed by his sister Martha Fiennes.
Semyon Bychkov will conduct most of the performances.
