Stockholm Stock Exchange opens slightly up

The Stockholm Stock Exchange opened the new trading week with little movement. The broad OMXS index rose 0.1 percent. Mining stocks performed strongly.

The heavyweight OMXS30 index, which covers the most-traded shares, rose 0.4 percent.

The best performer among large-cap stocks was Epiroc, a mining equipment heavyweight whose financial results pleased its owners. The stock rose 7.5 percent. Mining company Boliden rose 4.3 percent, following continued increases in metal prices.

At the other end, the venture capital company EQT and the defense group Saab fell 3.6 and 2.5 percent, respectively.

Developments on the leading European stock exchanges were mixed. London and Frankfurt rose slightly, while Paris fell slightly.

The dollar was trading at 8.93 kronor late in the afternoon. One euro was quoted at 10.61 kronor. The price of gold has risen to new record levels.
