The leading Asian stock markets are hovering around zero in Friday trading. Among the exceptions is South Korea's Kospi, which is falling sharply.

After a sunny Thursday on the stock market in Asia, the week looks set to end quietly.

Japan's Nikkei 225 has fluctuated between positive and negative during the morning. At lunchtime, the index was down 0.1 percent.

In China, the initial trend has been reminiscent of that in Japan, although both Shenzhen and Shanghai rose slightly before lunchtime. The former index is up around 0.7 percent while the latter is climbing 0.2 percent.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng is down 0.2 percent.

South Korea's Kospi falls 1.4 percent.
