Qualcomm, best known as a manufacturer of processors for mobile phones, takes up the fight with Nvidia. The company is now launching advanced AI chips.
Starting next year, Qualcomm will begin delivering AI chips. The first customer is the Saudi Arabian AI company Human.
Qualcomm has long been active in the mobile phone industry, and is described as relatively late to the ball when it comes to manufacturing more advanced data chips, an arena that tech giant Nvidia has dominated in recent years.
The share surges 17 percent on the New York stock exchange.
