According to the lawsuit, Cameron allegedly used a photo of Kilcher, who is Native American, from when she was 14 and played Pocahontas in Terrence Malick's "The New World."
Cameron allegedly used the photo to have his design team recreate Kilcher's face in sketches, 3D models and digital effects that were then used in films, posters and merchandise without the actor's knowledge or consent.
In an interview with the LA Times, Cameron also identified Kilcher as the inspiration for the character Neytiri. The lawsuit seeks damages, restitution of profits, and public redress.
