Qatar's Prime Minister Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Al-Thani urges Israel to leave the buffer zone at the border between Syria and Israel, which the Israeli military occupied after Bashar al-Assad's regime fell in December.
Israel's occupation (of the zone) is a ruthless act and they must immediately withdraw, he said during a visit to Damascus on Thursday.
The Qatari leader simultaneously promised to assist in the reconstruction of Syria's ravaged infrastructure after nearly 14 years of civil war.
We will provide the necessary technical support needed for the infrastructure to function again, said al-Thani, emphasizing efforts in the energy sector.
Qatar's promise was made at a press conference with Syria's new leader Ahmed al-Sharaa.
