The surrounding world must "stop its double standards" and see to it that Israel is punished. This is stated by Qatar's Prime Minister ahead of a regional summit on the astonishing Israeli attack on Hamas members in the mediating country's capital Doha.

It is time for the international community to stop its double standards and punish Israel for all the crimes the country has committed, says Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin al-Thani.

Qatar hosts the US's largest military base in the Middle East and has played a key role in attempts to broker a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.

Many were therefore surprised when Israel on Tuesday, with several fighter jets, launched an attack on a building complex in Doha. Five Hamas members and one Qatari were killed.

”State terrorism”

The attack is said to have caused irritation in Washington and President Donald Trump quickly came out and assured that Israel acted entirely on its own.

This attack can only be described as state terrorism, says the Qatari Prime Minister.

The aggression was committed while Qatar was hosting official and public negotiations, which the Israeli side was well aware of.

Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin al-Thani is now also coming with sharp criticism of Israel's actions in Gaza.

Israel should know that the ongoing war of extermination that our brother people, the Palestinians, are being subjected to, and whose goal is to expel them from their land, will not succeed.

Rubio in Israel

The statements are made ahead of a summit on Monday with leaders from several Arab countries and countries with a Muslim majority population where the Israeli attack will be discussed.

At the same time, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio is visiting Israel. On Sunday, he participated in a ceremony at the Western Wall in Jerusalem. Afterwards, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the alliance with the US "has never been stronger".

Netanyahu has defended the attack in Qatar and claims that the killing of Hamas leaders can force an end to the war.
