Russia's president Vladimir Putin will not attend the Brics group meeting in Brazil in July. The reason is the international arrest warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC).

The President will participate via video link. This is due to certain difficulties in connection with the ICC's requirements, says Putin's foreign policy adviser Jurij Usjakov.

The ICC's arrest warrant against Putin was issued in March 2023 and was motivated by the forced transfer of children from Russian-occupied areas in war-torn Ukraine.
