Russia's President Vladimir Putin is dismissing the head of the military's land forces, Oleg Saljukov, according to a decree published by the Kremlin.

Saljukov is thus the latest high-ranking official within the Russian military to be moved from his post.

He will work alongside the country's former Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu, who is now chairman of the Russian Security Council. Saljukov will become the deputy chairman of the council.

Shoigu was moved from the ministerial post a year ago.
