Putin Lauds Elon Musk as a Visionary, Compares Him to Soviet Space Pioneer

Russia's President Vladimir Putin praises in a speech Elon Musk, multibillionaire and advisor to the USA's President Donald Trump. He is a rare type of human being, completely filled with his idea, says Putin in a speech at a Moscow university.

Putin compares Musk with Sergey Korolev, a legendary rocket and space engineer in the Soviet space program.

You know, there is a man – he lives in the States – Musk, who always talks about Mars, says Putin.

Musk has founded the space company Space X and advocates for the colonization of Mars.

Even if it seems unlikely today, such ideas often become reality after a while. Just like with Korolev, our pioneers, whose ideas eventually bore fruit.

Korolev was one of the leading minds behind the Soviet Union's long series of successes in the early space race: Sputnik, the spaceflights of dogs Lajka, Belka, and Strelka, Yuri Gagarin's spaceflight, and Alexei Leonov's spacewalk. Before that, he invented the R7, the world's first intercontinental missile.

Musk has repeatedly been critical of Ukraine and its president Volodymyr Zelensky, who has been fighting against a full-scale Russian invasion for three years now.
