Vladimir Putin and Recep Tayyip Erdogan discussed the possibility of reinstating the 2022 agreement on safe maritime transport for Ukrainian cargo ships in the sea, according to the Russian power center Kremlin. Russia withdrew from the agreement in 2023.
According to Kremlin, the presidents also discussed lifting Western sanctions against Moscow, with the aim of re-allowing Russian exports of food and fertilizers. The conversation took place the day after the EU agreed to increase sanctions against Russia due to the war.
Cooperation between Turkey and Russia is of utmost importance for solving regional problems, Erdogan is said to have told his Russian counterpart, according to the presidential office in Ankara.
