The Russian activist collective Pussy Riot is labeled an "extremist organization" and banned from operating in Russia.

The feminist and regime-critical group's songs and videos have been banned in Russia since 2012, but now a court in Moscow has labeled the entire Pussy Riot as "extremist."

This means the group is not allowed to operate on Russian soil.

Repressive Russia has cracked down hard on the group and its members have been forced into exile. One of them is Nadezhda Tolokonnikova.

"In today's Russia, telling the truth is extremism. So be it – we are proud extremists in that case," she says, according to the AFP news agency.
