The Svea Court of Appeal confirms the sentence of three years and ten months for a 25-year-old man from Tyresö, who was convicted of ten counts of aggravated terrorist financing.

The man is said to have collected just over half a million kronor via TikTok and other social media between 2022 and 2024 with the aim of sending it to the Islamic State. He received cryptocurrency, Swedish kronor and US dollars, which were passed on to IS with the help of a man who represented the terrorist movement and who assisted him with the practicalities.

During questioning, the man denied any wrongdoing and claimed that the collection was for humanitarian purposes as the money would go to women in need.
