There is a power outage on Puerto Rico, reports the energy company Luma Energy.
The entire island is without power, says Hugo Sorrentini, spokesperson for the company that supplies electricity to 1.4 million customers.
The outage affects the largely Catholic population on the self-governing American territory in the middle of preparations for the Easter weekend. Similar outages have occurred earlier on the island, including on New Year's Eve most recently.
What has caused the power outage is unclear, but troubleshooting is underway, report the authorities.
